Oldham Community Choir

Oldham Community Choir

The choir was established in 1985 by Shirley Davies, an Oldham Music teacher in 1995, on Shirley’s retirement, Edward Rigg took over as conductor.

Most of our concerts are given in the Oldham area, but we have also travelled once each year to other areas such as the South Lakes, West Yorkshire, North Wales and the Midlands.

In 2016 Jon Gibson took over as conductor, and after a brief absence, Edward Rigg returned as accompanist.

We are a mixed voice choir of about 30 (Soprano. Alto Tenor Bass) and perform a variety of styles of music – popular songs, folk songs, songs from shows etc.

The choir rehearses at Oldham Music Centre, Union Street most Wednesday mornings 10am to 12pm. Concerts are often given in the afternoons with some evening events.

New singers in all parts are welcome, if you would like any further information please contact Madge Hampson on 0161 620 7388.
