The Oldham Music Centre Youth Brass Band will again be representing Oldham at the National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.

Bands from all parts of the British Isles will take place in this competition, categorised into different sections by age and ability. The Oldham Music Centre Band are in the highest section called “Championship”.

There are 12 bands in this section and in addition to some own choice repertoire the band will be playing the set test piece, ‘Saint Säens Variations’, by Phillip Sparke which is based on themes from the famous ‘Organ Symphony’.

On the day of the contest the Youth Brass Band be meeting at the Music Centre at 8.30am for a short rehearsal before setting off to Corby at around 9.30am. They are due to perform at 2.00pm. Prizes are categorised into Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit and an overall winner will be announced as National Youth Brass Band Champions.
